Baca Dlo' ay azhi Community School provides a safe and healthy learning environment to meet the needs and serve the priorities of our Navajo community. Student life in our educational program includes group activities and individualized services to nurture each student's growth through diverse academic services, social-emotional development, holistic teaching, language/cultural education, and athletics.

Afterschool Homework Support/Tutoring

Students seeking additional help with their classwork or homework can make arrangements with specific teachers or staff members. Meeting after school to receive support from tutors helps students keep pace with their classmates. Our academic support and tutoring services ensure students stay on track to advance and graduate on time. Baca faculty, staff, and community members offer additional learning opportunities outside the classroom.

College and Career Readiness

Baca Dlo’ ay azhi Community School students pursue academic and professional passions while preparing for middle and high school, college, and beyond. Students receive the educational, emotional, and cultural support needed to become graduates, professionals, responsible Navajo citizens, and lifelong learners. Our faculty and staff carefully monitor students’ progress as they guide them through a holistic curriculum and graduation.

FACE

Baca parents/guardians and students are encouraged to participate in our Family and Child Education (FACE) program. Long before their children become students enrolled at Baca Dlo’ ay azhi Community School, parents/guardians can receive valuable skills and training. Supportive FACE program staff members will work with families from a child’s infancy up to third grade. Routine home visits help families close any gaps in early childhood development, recognize any special needs, and prepare students for classroom learning.

21st Century Programs

21st-century Programs provide learning opportunities outside of the classroom and regular school hours. Learning centers are established throughout the community where students can participate in various activities across many disciplines. These Programs are a source of academic enrichment for students interested in math, science, art, music, telecommunications, advanced technologies, and more.

Navajo Language / Culture

Baca Dlo' ay azhi Community School students learn to express and identify with their Navajo language and culture. Knowledgeable teachers, community members, and Tribal leaders share valuable lessons, workshops, activities, celebrations, and tutorials on the Navajo tradition and heritage. Our curriculum provides instruction in Tribal language and culture as the local school board approves.

Athletic / P.E. Programs

Physical fitness and education are a priority at Baca Dlo’ ay azhi Community School. Students' minds, bodies, and spirits will develop through sports competitions and various P.E. programs. Our students increase self-confidence, build character, and develop leadership skills as they participate in sports teams and athletics. Sports seasons strengthen our school community and bond as we unite to support our student-athletes.

STEM

Students can receive an early introduction to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics programs. From early elementary, students start with the basic principles of creation, building, and problem-solving. As students learn their core math and science academics, they will apply their education during our STEM programs. Students interested in STEM will have many opportunities to participate throughout their enrollment at Baca Dlo’ ay azhi.
