Baca Hosts Frybread Contest

Baca/Dlo'ay Ázhi Community School in Prewitt, New Mexico, celebrated culture, family, and community during its recent Frybread Contest. The event welcomed students, families, staff, and community members for an evening filled with friendly competition and cultural pride.
Participants showcased their frybread making skills, and the contest highlighted the importance of preserving traditional knowledge and creating meaningful moments for families.
A highlight of the evening featured a father and daughter team preparing their frybread side by side. Two students also teamed up to enter the competition, showing confidence, teamwork, and a willingness to share their skills with the community.
Attendees enjoyed Navajo tacos and time with friends and neighbors. The Frybread Contest strengthened relationships between families and the school, honored cultural traditions, and encouraged students to participate in community life.
